About Us
Apps and Girls is an esteemed, award-winning organization committed to empowering students and young women in Uganda and Tanzania to shape their envisioned world through technology.
Established in 2013 in Tanzania by Carolyne Ekyarisiima, a Ugandan national, the organization has been a beacon for bridging the gender gap in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), fostering innovation, and providing opportunities for students in the domains of ICT/STEM and tech-entrepreneurship. Since its inception, the organization has successfully extended its impact to Uganda in 2019, striving to make a lasting difference in the lives of students and young women across both nations.
To achieve this goal, we are implementing an innovative cyclical process of advanced coding and robotics training, entrepreneurship training, mentorship, and incubation. The process itself harnesses the power of digital technologies, notably through the creation of coding clubs in secondary schools, conducting robotics and STEM bootcamps, advanced IT & entrepreneurship training, an offline and online women’s tech entrepreneurship incubator, and e-mentoring to match emerging tech entrepreneurs with mentors.
Mission
To give Girls the skills, tools, self-esteem, and competitive edge to become effective leaders and drive change in their communities using technology.
Vision
Our vision is to see Girls and young Women empowered by ICT to create the world they want to live in.
